Power production

Arendals Fossekompani owns and operates three hydro power stations in the Arendal area. The power stations have a total installed capacity of 77.6 MW and the total average annual Production last 10 years is about 504 GWh.
Having necessary title established before the concession laws, the power plants and the waterfalls are not subject to reversionary right for the Norwegian State. Most of the power is sold through NordPool. We are TÜV SÜD certified for renewable energy Production.

Bøylefoss Power Station

Bøylefoss power station was commissioned in 1913, and was for the better part of the 20th century solely supplying the Eydehavn industrial area. Power was produced at a special frequency (25 Hz), and could not be exported to the national grid.
Today, the power station has a total of eight generators commissioned through various expansions from 1927 up to the last addition coming in 1974. All turbines are of Francis type, and the 25 Hz generators were finally converted to 50 Hz during the last half of the 1980s.

Flatenfoss 2

Flatenfoss 2 was commissioned in 1981. The station has a horizontal Kaplan turbine.

Installed capacity: 5.5MW
Average annual production: 35 GWh

Flatenfoss 3

Flatenfoss 3 was put into production in 2009 replacing the earlier power station Flatenfoss 1. The station has a vertical Kaplan turbine.
